University of Vermont &
School for International Training
Naturally drawn to the teaching profession, I studied elementary education and anthropology at the University of Vermont. During my undergraduate studies I explored teaching methodologies, was presented with teaching tools and was provided with a supportive environment to apply my knowledge as an educator. From a student I grew into a novice teacher who continuously looked for ways to enhance my own learning as well as my students.
Weaving elementary education and anthropology together, I spent a semester in Kenya and summer in South Africa studying, exploring, and forming questions about educational practices, systems, and theories on a global level. It was through these two influential study aboard experiences that I was exposed and completely immersed in an experiential learning environment. I believe that these critical experiences have and continue to shape my personal and professional life.
Although I have not been in an elementary classroom for many years now, it still continues to be the foundation to the work I love doing. Below are links to sample lessons plans and units that I created and implemented during multiple teaching practicums at UVM.
